The Hammock Art Story
In the 1990's, an adventurous motorcycle soul from Switzerland travelled to the very north of Thailand and started collaborating with the Thai Hill Tribes.
The ongoing deforestation, the lack of education, the remote location as well as the discrimination by the rest of the population made it so difficult for many of the hill tribes in this region to find a way out of poverty.

Creating the perfect hammock.
Hammock Art is always one step ahead in making the perfect relaxation hammock.
The perfect hammock needs to be produced under fair conditions. This is why the Hammock Art family takes good best care of its team.

Supporting the Thai Tribes
The project was originally meant to be a source of alternative income for the Thai Tribes. Today, the project is a stable employer for more than 20 men and woman of the Lanna, Lahu, Khmu and Hmong tribes.
The production is happening in the home village. It is fairly paid and every employee can choose their own pace of work.

Thai Tribal Crafts Fair Trade
Hammock Art & Thai Tribal Crafts share a lot of history. Both projects are on a mission to create opportunities for the Hill Tribe community.
Thai Tribal Crafts is a certified member of the Fair Trade label and supports Hammock Art in weaving these very special hammocks.
