Handmade with love and precision.
These very special hammocks are made by hand in the North of Thailand. We want to show you how Hammock Art creates the perfect hammock for your relaxation.
The workstation is a weaving frame produced by a local metal trader and made of recycled water pumps.
The weaver's training usually takes more than one year to master the complex weaving style applied in the Hammock Art collection.
Hammocks in Thailand are woven while seated, which makes the work much more enjoyable than standing all day.
Beside the handicraft, the selection of the right yarn is of high importance. Hammock Art is using a custom acrylic yarn that originates in Bangkok.
The acrylic thread combines the benefits of organics and a synthetics. The raw material is spun like cotton and feels very soft and comfortable while being resistant to water and sun, sustaining its colours over many years.
Up to 4 km of yarn and 60k slip knots are necessary to complete one hammock. While weaving a calm, skilled and patient hand of the weaving artist is demanded.
The hammock artist applies an asymmetrical V-technique that creates a high density and therefore guarantees the highest comfort on the market.
When the hammocks are finished by the weaver, each hammock is tested once again by Nee herself to ensure the weaving quality, level of comfort and loading capacity.
Once the quality has been approved, the hammocks are packed and shipped to our EU outlet in Germany.
